Mathematical modeling as a method of studying the phenomen of autonomism within political geography.
The article discusses the use of mathematical modeling as a method of Political Geography, reveals the concept of the territorial autonomism and the factors of its genesis.A broad interdisciplinary approach, in particular the methods of mathematical modeling and spatial analysis, allowsidentifying factors which influence the development the phenomenon of autonomism and formation of autonomousterritorial units on the political map of the world. The growth of scientific interest in the issue is caused by activation of autonomist movements in many countries in thelate XX - early XXI centuries, especially within the territory of Western Europe. Researchers in this area relate thisphenomenon to the processes of globalization and European integration; however, they are faced with the problem ofdetermining factors of the genesis of autonomism.Existing political science and sociological concepts tend to see a factor of ethnicity as a necessary condition for theemergence of autonomy in the region, but not ethnically different from the center existing autonomous territorial units(Canary Islands in Spain, the Azores and Madeira in Portugal) or regions tending to the attainment of this status(Wallonia in Belgium, Lombardy in Italy), refute this claim.A factor of economic difference between regions and the center or the rest of the state is also often mentioned as animportant condition for the explanation of the autonomist activity, but it is not universal. The method of mathematicalmodeling allows determining relationship between cultural and economic factors, the degree of dominance of each ofthem in a particular case of the autonomist activity. This method proves that autonomous territorial units oncontemporary political map of the world are special territorial and political systems which have arisen under theinfluence of several factors interacting according to the principle of complementarity.Existing mathematical models in the field (Fearon and Van Houten, Seth Jolly) confirm the need to find other, noneconomicand cultural, factors which influence the emergence of autonomism (e.g., decentralization of state power, geographic isolation, etc.).

Suburban zone of Ivano-Frankivsk city and suburban agricultural specialization.
Urbanization in modern Ukraine takes place against the background of depopulationalong with the economical crisis. These two factors have influenced both cities and rural territories. Thus, absolutenumber of urban population in Ukraine decreases, although there are cities which continue their growth. Demographiccrisis in the rural communities causes the outflow of young able-bodied population in their reproductive years to thecities because of severe economic climate. This contributes to further increase of the number of urban citizens and theabsolute amount of citizens in certain cities, particularly the largest ones and those located in agrarian poorlyurbanized regions. Specialization of agricultural industry is closely connected to its localization. They are the forms ofsocial division of labour and present constant interrelation and interdependence. Localization characterizes thequantitative aspects of social division of labour and indicates the types of industry, to which extent and on what areasthey are produced on this or that territory (zone, region, district, micro-zone, a separate industrial unit). The world'sagriculture has been showing a tendency to enhance the specialization of agricultural industry at all levels of itsorganization for many years already. Fewer and fewer enterprises and regions work on the basis of self-sufficiencywhich used to dominate before.

The structure of the lands in landscape-ecological organization of territory of the Volyn region.
In the article the results of evaluation of structure of land-tenure of the Volyn region are represented according toadministrative districts. The comparative analysis of present structure of the land fund and recommendable ecologicalparameters of the balanced territorial organization are carried out. Landscape-ecological priorities of development ofterritory of the Volyn region were certain for this purpose. The coefficient of ploughed lands, percentage of ploughedlands, level of the agricultural development, correlation of natural and economic lands of administrative districts of theVolyn region are analyzed. On the calculated indexes skeleton maps of their spatial distribution are created. Oncorrelation of natural and economic lands the typology of administrative districts of Volyn is executed. The skeleton map created on the results of the conducted typology gave an opportunity to distinguish three natural areasof groups in administrative districts. The natural area of optimal correlations of natural and economic lands is belongedto the Polesian lowland (Liuboml, Shatsk, Stara Vyzhivka, Ratne, Kovel, Kamin-Kashyrskyi, Lyubeshiv, Manevichi andKivertsi districts). The natural area with the relatively optimal indexes of this criterion includes the extreme south of thePolesian lowland and partly north of Volyn highland (Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Turyisk, Rozhysche districts). The naturalarea of unfavorable correlations of the lands is timed to the highlanded forest-steppe part of region (Ivanychi, Lokachi,Horokhiv, Lutsk districts). The basic factors of the existing situation are historical features of settling of territory, differences in the natural conditions and resources of Polesian and forest-steppe parts of the region. For more detailedecological diagnosis of territory of the Volyn region the evaluation of ecological coefficients of balanced of territorialstructure (coefficients of ecological stability, anthropogenic loading, absolute tension, relative tension, to ecologicalsecurity etc.) is needed. Those points determine the prospects of our further researches.
